Holodecks: In the next few years?

I'm back on my blog schedule after a month of writing a manuscript. I had a deadline that I couldn't miss and thank you to Jessica and Dawn for understanding.

So as I'm peaking back into the real world there is a huge buzz about the Tupac hologram at Coachella.

My question is this: How long before we have real holodecks? I don't think it's that far off. Virtual Reality technology is amazing.

Although I'm not sure the immersion we saw on the Enterprise is around the corner just yet. But imagine holographic interaction combined with the Google glasses that you keep you updated on where you are in the virtual world.

Okay, my geek mind could run wild with this, but I want your opinion.

Whatcha think?

I love the concept. It's neat to see how technology has evolved, even in my short lifetime. I can't imagine those who have seen 90 or 100 years of progress. It's a mystery what the future holds, but I'm ready for it.

So much potential with holodecks, good, and bad. I'm excited to see what the future has in store. :)
