It's poll time! Help Jessica E. Subject with her next cover. #scifi #urbanscifi

Hello peeps! Thank you for joining me today! Right now, the second story in my Alien Next Door series, Alien Admirer, is with my CPs, and I'm finishing up another 1Night Stand story, His Alien Virgin. After those, my next project is going to be an urban sci-fi. While there will be some romantic elements, the romance will not be the main focus of the story. It will be more aliens in an action/adventure. So, I have a question for you.

What would you prefer to see on the cover of an urban sci-fi with romantic elements?

(Yes, I know many of these are urban fantasy and PNR, but I'm just trying to show representatives of the options. :)

A) A couple embracing?

B) A couple, but not embracing?

C) Only one character in an urban setting?

D) Close up of one character?

E) All of the characters in the story?

F) A symbol representing the story?

G) Other - please share what you'd like to see.

I look forward to your answers. :)

An Alien Update

Hello peeps! Thank you for stopping by for a visit!

I didn't know what to post about today, so I thought I'd give you a quick update on what I'm working on, and share an excerpt from my upcoming release, Hey, Santa.

Reading - I've just started reading Mila 2.0 by Debra Driza. It's a YA sci-fi thriller.

Writing - I have two chapters left to write in Alien Admirer, which is the second book in my Alien Next Door series. I am hoping to release this story in the beginning of December.

Editing - Hey, Santa is in the final stages of editing with Wizards in Publishing. This story will officially release on October 1, 2013.

She doesn’t want a lot for Christmas…

Claire Otton dreads spending another holiday alone. When her best friend convinces her to approach the sexy mall Santa, she takes the chance and asks him out, hoping for so much more.

He’s waiting under the mistletoe…

Although Andreas Castellanos blends in on Earth, he knows he will never belong. But when the gorgeous woman he’d been staring at invites him to dinner, he has a hard time saying no.

All they’re asking for…

Can these two lonely souls find magic together or will their secrets steal their chance of a happy Christmas?

And here's an sneak peek excerpt:

“You can’t be serious.” Claire mustered the dirtiest look possible for her best friend.

Tiffany held out her hands and air-squeezed the man’s firm butt cheeks from a distance. “C’mon. Look at that ass.”

“Yes, but a Santa Claus? How do I know what he looks like under that suit and beard?” Imagining removing the white hair to find a wrinkled old man, she shuddered.

“Only one way to find out.” Smacking Claire’s butt, Tiffany urged her forward. “Go ask him.”

She planted her feet. Thank goodness she hadn’t worn heels for their marathon shopping trip only two days before Christmas. “If you’re so interested, why don’t you?”

Tiffany rolled her eyes, sighing. “Because I’m engaged to be married to the love of my life. You’re the Grinch who needs to get laid.”

“I’m not a Grinch,” she snapped. Breathing deeply, she counted backwards from ten. “I’m sorry. This is just a very stressful time of year for me.”

“I know.” Tiffany cupped her elbow. “I just want to see you happy at Christmas again. It doesn’t have to be a miserable holiday anymore. That’s part of the reason I dragged you with me today.”

She swallowed the lump in her throat, tears welling already. Please don’t let me turn into a blubbering mess in the middle of the mall. While she appreciated her friend’s concern, she coped better on her own. “I…I should go home. I can’t just pretend it didn’t happen.”

The Host - from novel to movie. What do you think? #scifi #scifirom #aliens

Back in 2011, I read The Host by Stephenie Meyer. It was one of my favorite reads that year, and still remains amongst my favorites. Though, I admit I have never read or watched anything from the Twilight series. Why? I tend to prefer aliens over vampires. But that doesn't stop me from enjoying some paranormal romances now and then.

I thought I'd share my review of The Host that I posted on Goodreads:

This book is so much more than a science fiction book about aliens who invade human bodies. It is a love story of the purest form, unconditional and sacrificial love. The Host also provides a raw look into the good and bad sides of humanity.

I absolutely loved The Host. It was such an emotional journey to take with the narrator, an alien creature nicknamed Wanda, who lives in a host body where the host's personality will not die. For obvious reasons, they are at odds with each other inside the same body, but a journey through the desert makes them see each other and the current state of the planet differently.

I recommend The Host to anyone and everyone. I've never read the Twilight series, so I can't compare this book to Stephenie Meyer's other works, but it was an emotional thrill ride. Definitely one of my favorites for 2011 and of all time.

On July 9, The Host released on video, and I was lucky enough to receive a copy from my sister-in-law as a get-well present. I had missed seeing the movie in theaters, and she knew I really wanted to see it.

How does it compare?

Obviously, some of the story had to be cut out, as with any movie adaptation. But they included much of the story they cut out in the beginning as Wanda's dreams after she'd been inserted into Melanie's body. There is also much of Wanda/Melanie's walk through the desert that is not included. These cut scenes take away some of the emotional intensity that I felt when reading the book. But the accuracy of the movie is the closest to the book that I have seen in a long time. I wasn't yelling at the screen "That's so wrong!" like I did during Harry Potter and The Hunger Games.

I still love the story, and it will remain as one of the sci-fi movies that I watch while I work.

So, have you read The Host? Have you seen the movie? What did you think?

Sci-Fi on television - What do you watch?

Hello peeps! Well, the last heat wave broke and another is upon us. I've started watching a new sci-fi show called Under The Dome. It's based on Stephen King's novel of the same title. It's on Global here in Canada. Here's a preview for those who haven't seen it.:

Anyway, it got me thinking about sci-fi on television. There have been many over the years that I have watched whether dramas or comedies. Star Trek: TNG and Voyager were must watches for me. I also enjoyed The Jetsons, Space: Above and Beyond, ALF, Lois & Clark, Quantum Leap, Out of this World, Smallville, The X-Files, The Outer Limits, Earth 2, 3rd Rock from the Sun, and many more that I can't think of right now.

And there are many more premiering in the fall. But, I'm going to save them for another post.

Tell me: What were some of your favorite sci-fi shows that you grew up watching? Which ones would you like to see redone or turned into a movie?

Dystopian Fiction - Is this what we expect for our future?

Hello! I've survived two book releases this month, and this sweltering heat wave. Thank goodness the weekend is supposed to bring some relief to these high temperatures and the humidity.

My release from two days ago is the second story in The Underground series, which takes place in a dystopian world where a corporation runs the city, changing the laws to best suit them. And that got me thinking about the recent popularity of dystopian worlds in fiction and film.

Is this what our future holds? A world where everything has been destroyed, and remnants of humanity must figure out how to survive again? Or what about a world where social classes are further defined as in The Hunger Games? Will corporations run the cities rather than a government of the people? Will the government control who we are allowed to marry as in Matched? Will there be domes that keep communities confined, keeping them safe from destruction or separating them from the rest of the world? What about aliens? Will they take over the world, leaving humans to survive on the fringe?

These are just some of the examples of the future world in dystopian stories I have read. Is this what we believe future generations will experience?

Or perhaps these dystopias offer readers and viewers something different. In all of these stories, good triumphs over evil, people survive and live on. It may take the entire series rather than one story, but it does happen. These stories are ultimate survival stories, extreme situations that have the world, not just a few, fighting to stay alive and find a happy ending. Do we as readers want more than just the regular old troupes? Personally, I enjoy a variety of stories, but I find I'm cheering for society as a whole at the end of any dystopian fiction, rather than just a few characters in other stories.

Tell me: Do you enjoy dystopian fiction? What is it that draws you to the genre? And what differences do you find in these stories verses other genres?

World Building - Show, Don't Tell

I went to see Man of Steel (LOVED it!) over the weekend, and during the scenes on Krypton, all I could think about was the amazing world building. And in movies, it is all about showing. Because one simply can't tell about what the world looks like and still keep the audience's attention.

And instead of providing a panoramic view of the planet, audiences watched as Jor-El flew his dragon-like creature across the skies, trying to escape Zod's forces. Just plain awesome!

Authors have to do the same thing in stories. We cannot stop the action so the characters can tell us about their surroundings. We have to show them interacting with their environment. Otherwise, it ruins the pacing and can pull the reader out of the story.

My two June releases are set in very different worlds, one on a pleasure planet, and the other in a dystopian futuristic world run by a corporation. Here are some examples of how I reveal my worlds:

Here is Ava being guided around Elatia for the first time:

Side-by-side with Jacobus, she strolled past booths selling eletin creams, lotions, and oils, while others sported various wares made from veech. The delicious scent of spiced cider wafted around her. She licked her dry lips, her throat suddenly parched. Glancing around, she paused, longing for something to drink. On the other side of the street sat the brewery, with a vendor out front pushing an assortment of candy including eletin chews. Her stomach rumbled. She hadn’t eaten since grabbing a protein bar at breakfast.

“Hungry?”

She nodded, biting on her bottom lip. Although eager to sample the tempting food of this planet, she’d forgotten to grab some spending money before leaving Star Spirit. Out of luck.

With slight pressure on her back, Jacob encouraged her to continue walking, leaving the vendors behind. “All of this awaits you in your suite. There is a full spread of delicacies from this planet, as well as the highest quality of eletin products to enhance your pleasure.”

For the first time since she’d received the message from Madame Evangeline, Ava smiled. Even if her date didn’t work out, the preparation would be well worth the money. At least, she hoped.

And here is Melina reporting for work:

Melina whistled, riding the glide to Planet Core. The day promised to be the best yet. Not only did she start training for the mission to Airondelle today—a welcome change from head of the sanitary engineers for the complex—but, she would see Brook after she put in her necessary hours. And she planned a hot and heavy evening, making full use of the leftover strawberries.

The glide dinged, reaching the end of its track. The complex loomed ahead. Though, the sight failed to fill her with dread today. She no longer contemplated a way to leave the city, only a means for her and Brook to be together without having to hide their relationship.

Among the throng of other employees, she stepped off the glide, heading toward the mass of steel that made up Planet Core Headquarters. Corralled through the gates of the employee entrance, the people split off to be scanned into their specific department doorway. Instead of heading left as usual, Melina turned right, walking toward the new mission training access. She gazed into the retina scanner.

“Holloway, Melina. You are to report to Malock’s office immediately.”

She tensed, limbs shaking, waiting for an armed escort. Shit, what did I do? No one got called to Malock’s office in the morning, unless they were to be reprimanded, or worse.

The glass door in front of her slid open. She stepped into the foyer, security immediately by her side.

“This way,” said the guard to her left.

Notice how in both cases, the character is NOT stationary, glancing around. They are interacting with their world, showing it to you as they experience it. Tell me: What fictional world would you love to visit?

Looking for love in Space #scifirom #spaceopera

Hello everyone! The buzz of a new release is leaving me very anxious. ANOTHER NIGHT, ANOTHER PLANET releases tomorrow. Woot! Now, when I get asked which of my stories I like the best, this one definitely ranks up there. I had so much fun writing this story, and I can't wait to share it with you. So, I'm going to share an excerpt below. And be sure to visit my blog tomorrow for all kinds of giveaways and release day fun.

Excerpt:

Ava hit send on her application to the 1Night Stand dating service. No time to wait for a reply. She shoved her tablet computer into her carry-on, slung the bag over her shoulder, and rushed out the door. With the Star Spirit scheduled to leave Earth in two hours, she had to zip through town to clock in before liftoff. She hoped Madame Eve would find her perfect match during her six-month tour.

Sure, she’d met many men in her travels between the Milky Way and the Belvarian System. But most looked down their noses or other appendages at the woman who cleaned their room. Those who showed an interest wanted a quick fuck before sending her away with their trash and dirty sheets.

She longed to find a guy to wine-and-dine her, to share conversation rather than a roll in the hay. Not that she’d complain about having sex with the guy Madame Eve chose for her during their guaranteed one night together. But she wanted to leave the date satisfied, mentally and physically.

Buzzing through the heavy traffic on her hover bike, Ava reached the spaceport in record time. Perfect. She found a parking locker in the cold, dank underground lot to squeeze her bike into then dashed toward security. If she could pick up a faint signal, maybe she would have a chance to check her email one last time before takeoff. Unlike the guests on board her mother traveler, she couldn’t afford to connect her tablet to the wireless system, not since she’d paid for her one-night stand. She used her once-a-week employee video call to speak with her mom and dad.

Raised by middle-class parents she’d had little chance of furthering her education past what the government paid for. When her father had received a pink slip from his employer of twenty star cycles, any hope she’d held of going to college flew out the window. Without an advanced degree, she found nothing but meaningless jobs paying her less than the effort she put into them.

Bags checked, Ava dashed down the plain white corridors of the employee level, pausing for the vacuum seals to release on doors along the way, until she reached her room for the duration of her stay. After thumbing the security pad to open the door, she crashed on the bed to the left, the right one belonging to Michelle, her best friend, who had convinced her to apply to housekeeping aboard Star Spirit. They interviewed together, starting space training the very next day.

Four star cycles later, she enjoyed a quick moment to rest before venturing out on her seventh tour. Though she didn’t have much of a life traveling through space, she received better pay than she would find anywhere on Earth. Providing her basic needs of food and shelter while on-board, the owners of the ship also compensated her well enough to split her earnings between her parents and her savings account when she returned home. She couldn’t let the people who had raised her suffer because she’d found an opportunity they hadn’t.

Yanking her tablet from her bag, she flicked it on, connecting to the Internet. Finding a faint signal, she logged onto her email account, praying her application went through. She scanned her new messages, deleting game requests, jokes from her friends, and e-flyers as she went. There, at the very bottom of the list, sat a message from Madame Eve.

She clicked it open, her heart hammering in her chest as she read.

Bonjour Ava,

Thank you for your application to 1Night Stand. I will do my best to find a man who will meet your desires. Your scheduling circumstances have been noted. As soon as your date has been arranged, I will let you know.

Bon voyage,
Madame Eve.

My love for aliens started with Superman - #scifirom #ManofSteel

In a post earlier this year, I listed several science fiction and science fiction romance movies that I am looking forward to watching this year. Now, most of them I will not get a chance to see in the theaters, but I do hope to catch a couple. The rest I will watch on DVD. I already saw Star Trek Into Darkness at the theater in 3D. LOVED IT! After Earth released last weekend, and I hope to catch that film as well.

The other movie I hope to catch at the theater is Man of Steel. Why? Because I LOVE Superman. I have for as long as I can remember.

I watched the Superman movies when they aired on television (in between my father flicking the channels - Grrr), watched Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, and grew excited when this commercial came on:

And when Warner Bros. brought Smallville to television, I watched that as well. Though, I have to admit, I didn't enjoy Superman Returns, released in 2006. It just didn't do it for me.

Superman remains my addiction, the alien living on Earth, who continuously saves us from ourselves and other extraterrestrials. My hero. I mean, aliens can't be so bad if there are at least some like him. At least, I keep telling myself that. LOL

Anyways, without getting into the science of what aliens actually might look like, I admit, that I prefer the version co-created by Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel.

With Superman now celebrating 75 years, this movie has a lot to live up to. From the numerous trailers I've seen, it looks great. My fingers are crossed. :)

So, do you plan on watching Man Of Steel, either on the big screen or the video? Or will you pass on Superman?

I leave you with a trailer from Man of Steel, which releases June 14, 2013 (the same day as Another Night, Another Planet):

Celebrating TWO book birthdays with a Giveaway!

Hello peeps! Today I'm celebrating the one-year book birthday for TWO of my stories. Satin Sheets in Space and An Unexpected Return were released within a day of each other in 2012. Hard to believe it's been a year already.

Anyway, here is more information about the stories, with excerpts. And keep reading to find out more about the giveaway!

Satin Sheets in Space
A 1Night Stand story

Erotic Sci-Fi MFM Ménage Romance
ISBN: 978-1613332962

Danyka's unusual height and radiant red hair earn her the cold shoulder from any guy she approaches, unless he wants to experiment with a giant. So when her boss sets up on a one night stand, she hopes for a prince but expects the usual toad.

As a captivating stranger whisks her away from the ball and introduces her to his equally gorgeous brother, she fears her fantasies have become a nightmare. Has she finally given into impulse only to become a lab rat in an unknown world?

Available From:

Excerpt:

She had her eyes closed, her lips pressed against his, when the sensation started. First, a tingling in her hands and feet, as he swept his digits deep inside her. The buzz spread up her arms and legs until it engulfed her entire body. She no longer sensed the ground below her.

The man continued to drive his fingers into her core with vigor, ridding her of the urge to pull away and find out what was happening to her. She landed with a thud, feeling returning to her limbs. Nothing stopped the man who held her, though. He continued to ravage her mouth, her jaw, her neck, keeping her pressed against the wall.

But something felt different. Gone was the hard brick pressing through her corset and against her skin. She reached behind to brush her hand along the surface. Soft. Almost like cushioned satin.

With a whimper, she pushed the strange man away. Where was she? What had she been thinking? This is the stupidest, most insane thing I’ve ever done.

The Prince Charming she’d had the fortune of being set up with peered down at her, his gaze intense and filled with lust. “My name is Galan, and we’re in my spaceship.”

At least she now knew his name, but wait…. Spaceship? She stared at the man, disillusioned. She could think of no other explanation for how they had traveled to a new location with the press of a button. Oh God, she’d been abducted by an alien. How would she get out of this situation? The first time she’d done something spur-of-the-moment, and she’d ended up being finger-fucked by an extraterrestrial.

Or was this some kind of elaborate stunt Josh had pulled off? But why? He was on his honeymoon, unable to enjoy his handiwork. Her body grew numb; a loud ringing pierced her eardrums. She could no longer think with the clouds invading her mind. Then she blacked out.

An Unexpected Return
An Elatia story

ISBN: 978-1613332993

Excerpt:

Walking into the silky rear-end of an oroke, she came to an abrupt halt. The creature had been walking at a steady pace and then stopped. She’d failed to notice in time. Wiping fluff off her face, she turned around and walked into another hard body. “I’m so sorry.”

Hands clamped down on her arms. “Are you all right?”

She stared up into deep brown eyes. Chewing her bottom lip, she nodded. If this man hadn’t been holding on to her, she would have fallen to the ground. The word swoon held no meaning for her until now.

Am I only like this because of the eletin I inhaled back home? Or was there something more she found heart-racing about the blue-skinned, well-muscled hunk of an Otarian who held her up?

No, she couldn’t feel anything for him. Their races had been sworn enemies for years. Everyone across the galaxy knew that. Yet here she was, standing face to face, gazing intently at him, with no will to move.

He smiled at her, drawing her attention from his eyes to his lips. How would they taste? She’d never kissed anyone intimately before.

“What’s your name?”

Name? Gods, what was her name? “Zee…Xia.” Had she told him, or only thought the word?

He released her arms to brush his fingers along her jaw line. How she remained standing, she had no idea.

“Xia. A beautiful name belonging to a beautiful woman.”

Moisture pooled between her thighs. Her cheeks warmed. “Thank you.”

She sighed as he trailed a hand down her arm. Her entire body tingled from his gentle touch.

“You’re welcome. Now tell me, why were you in such a rush that you walked into the rear end of that slow-moving beast? We’re supposed to be on vacation, enjoying all this planet has to offer.”

Laughing at his description of the oroke, she leaned against his arm. Never before had she enjoyed a man’s attention like this. “I’m not visiting. I live here. Have my whole life.”

He raised his eyebrows. “Really? So, what was it like growing up on the pleasure planet?”

“I…I don’t know. Normal?” She couldn’t think clearly around him. Her tongue felt numb in her mouth.

His smile traveled all the way up to his eyes. He leaned closer and rested his hand on her hip. “Then perhaps you could be my personal tour guide,” he whispered in her ear.

“I can’t. I have other plans.”

He drew back and frowned, but she could still see the glimmer in his eyes.

“I’m jealous of whoever you’re going to be spending your time with.”

She giggled at him. “I’m just going to sleep. It’s been a long day, and I’m afraid I wouldn’t be good company.” There was no way she would tell him she had to spend a few hours that night with another man.

Losing the fake expression, he smiled again. “Tomorrow then? I’d really like to see you again.”

Woo-hoo! A man wanted to see her again. It made her feel like the most desirable woman on the planet. “Sure, I’d like that, too.”

“Great. Now, before you go, could you point me in the direction of the Delectacio Hotel? I have an appointment with an Adamo, and I can’t seem to find my way back.”

Her heart lurched. He’d flirted with her, made her desire him, and then thrown his appointment in her face. Would her life always be like this on Elatia, men seeking only sexual release and nothing more? In that case, she’d need to harden her heart, or end up lacerated by rejection. “Find it yourself.”

Erotic dreams fill her with need…

Night after night, Rachel fantasizes about her sexy, playboy neighbor. But in her small town, no one changes, least of all the bad boy next door. But when Luke rescues her not once but twice from disastrous dates, she dares to believe her knight in black leather armor may be the right man for her after all.

Until she learns the truth...

Life on Earth has never been easy for Luke. Stranded as a little boy, he struggled to craft an existence for himself, but he never forgot the first human he met--and he never stopped wanting to see her again. Returning to Hanton, Luke longs for Rachel. Yet, nothing goes as he plans, and Rachel barely notices him. Convincing her he isn't like all the jerks she's dated means telling her the truth, but can she handle it?

Can she overcome her fears, or will she deny her alien adoration and leave him stranded once more?

Shunned because of his lineage…

Being banned from several planets across the universe has made it hard for Nate to run his interstellar shipping business. But the DNA of an exterminated race runs through his blood, giving him a diluted form of their powers, and leaving him labeled as a terrorist.

Both searching for the one…

Through her 1Night Stand dating service, Madame Evangeline matches these two together for a celestial escape on the pleasure planet, Elatia.

Will Ava and Nate find what they’re looking for, or will their date go up in flames?

What DO Aliens Look Like? - part 2 - Science

Thank you for joining me on Backward Momentum! It's time for part two of What DO Aliens Look Like. Today I'm going to focus on some of the theories offered by the scientific community.

From "Through the Wormhole: What Do Aliens Look Like?" on the Science Channel, it is assumed that extraterrestrial life would be both carbon and water-based like us. But due to many factors, including differences in evolution and gravity, life on another planet could be very different from what we know on Earth. Life could be as simple as microbes. But will we ever be truly satisfied until we find intelligent life like us?

An article by Seth Shostak, Senior Astronomer, SETI Institute on Space.com suggests extraterrestrial life might be humanoid, like us. And at a former exhibit in Montreal, scientists displayed plausible displays of aliens that might live on other planets with what we would consider, extreme conditions. Those lifeforms resembled creatures on Earth who live in extremely high temperatures and in acidic conditions. Be sure to check out the flying whales, animals that look like plants, and more.

So, what do YOU think aliens might look like?

What DO aliens look like? Part 1 - Hollywood

While writing my alien romances, I always ask myself, what DO aliens look like? Many have tried to explain what they might resemble, but all our guesses, both fictional and those based on science make the assumption aliens are carbon based lifeforms. What happens if they're not? The possibilities are endless.

Today I'm going to give a glimpse at how Hollywood has portrayed aliens over the years. Next week, I'm going to take a more scientific approach.

Now, in Hollywood, aliens have been those hiding on Earth, trying to blend in or not be found, and also those arriving to take over.

Here are just a sample of the variety of aliens in movies:

Earth Girls Are Easy

Close Encounters of the Third Kind

And here's a top 10 list of Alien races in film from WatchMojo.com:

See any you like? So, based on Hollywood's portrayal of extraterrestrials, what do YOU think an alien might look like? Are there any movies that resemble your idea better?

My Decadent Journey Hop #DecadentJourney #DecadentAuthors

Hello everyone! Thank you for visiting me during the My Decadent Journey hop! And thank you to JoAnne Kenrick for organizing this event!

Just a quick introduction for those who don't know me. I write contemporary and science fiction romance. My first story was published in July 2011 with Decadent Publishing, and I have twelve stories published with them so far, with two more coming soon.

My Decadent journey started at the beginning of 2011. I was busy writing my first novel, and sharing excerpts every Sunday on my blog. One of my author friends, Rebecca Royce, whom I'd met through participating in Six Sentence Sunday, suggested I add my sci-fi romance style to a brand-new line at Decadent Publishing, called 1Night Stand.

I had not read any stories from this new line, so she suggested I read Erotic Healing by Becca Dale. After that, I was hooked on the series, and wanted to try to write one.

So, I penned a story about an alien who came to Earth to experience love based on the 1Night Stand line guidelines. Rebecca helped me to polish my story for submission. But, I didn't think it was quite ready. I had never submitted anything at this point, and was scared send my work into the world.

I was also celebrating my one-year blogoversary in April of 2011, and wanted to wait until that had finished before sending the story to Decadent Publishing. Little did I know, Rebecca had contacted one of the acquisitions editors for the 1Night Stand line, and told her about my story. And I was asked to submit.

Holy sh**! I never expected something like that to happen. And on the morning of April 30, 2011, I submitted my first story, Celestial Seduction.

I felt ill all day, my stomach twisted in knots. I didn't know how long I'd have to wait to hear back, either, the waiting times that I'd heard about from other authors ranging from four to six weeks. Sometimes longer.

Lucky for me, I didn't have to wait long. I received an email that night with the offer of a contract.

Now, wait times have since changed, and I become an inbox stalker when I have a story on submission. But Celestial Seduction was my foot in the door, my first published story.

I've since written five more 1Night Stand stories, plus stories for The Edge, Elatia, and The Challenge series lines, amongst others. I've met so many wonderful people through Decadent, and I have to say, Decadent Publishing is one of the most supportive publishers I know. Though, it's still a lot of hard work, never mind the colorful edits that arrive in my inbox. Celestial Seduction was a technicolor rainbow.

And I've learned so much in my journey with them, taking new chances and trying new things all the time.

Be sure to visit the Daily Dose of Decadence blog to read the journeys from other Decadent Authors
